As part of the event, the Fry Street Quartet will perform Lek, a captivating piece by composer Nicolas Lell Benavides, written for string quartet and electronics. The electronics incorporate field recordings of the sage grouse’s iconic mating ritual, captured in Utah, and blend seamlessly with the quartet’s performance. The group will discuss the profound role that art-making plays in fostering observation, beauty, wonder, and a shared cultural understanding. The event will also include a question-and-answer session and is free and open to the public.
