The FSQ’s activities include acclaimed performances and recordings of milestone chamber works, including quartets by Haydn, Beethoven and Bartok. In addition, the ensemble advocates for contemporary music, with a particular focus on championing compositions by American women such as Joan Tower, Laura Kaminsky and Libby Larsen. In order to address major societal issues through music, the FSQ has partnered with visual artists, vocalists, writers and scientists. Signature work includes The Crossroads Project, an interdisciplinary piece combining science and art to address global sustainability, and the opera As One, which chronicles the life of a transgender individual. The Fry Street Quartet holds the Dan C. and Manon Caine Russell Endowed String Quartet Residency at the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University, through which each member of the ensemble teaches his or her instrument as well as chamber music studies.
